Nick Murphy – aka Chet Faker – has announced new album ‘Take In The Roses’, his first alongside backing band The Program.

Nick Murphy resurrects Chet Faker: “The name had become the master of me and I wasn’t in control of it”. ‘Take In The Roses’ sees Murphy joined by Nick Kinsey, Jake Falby, Tim Lappin and Tim Mislock, and was produced by longtime collaborator Dave Harrington – one half of electronic duo Darkside alongside Nicholas Jaar. According to a press release, the album was heavily guided by Americana influences. It written and recorded prior to the pandemic at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, Texas, and was tracked almost entirely live. “This record is important for a lot of reasons, but if I had to choose one, it’s that it was fun to make,” Murphy explained in an accompanying statement.

The Australian crooner knew how to renew himself in order to better impress us on a refined musical turn. Well, we are surprised with his return five months later in the company of The Program with a new album called Take In The Roses.

Accompanied by Nick Kinsey (Waxahatchee, Kevin Morby), Jake Falby (Julie Byrne), Tim Lappin and Tim Mislock, Nick Murphy and The Program will venture to Americana territories with skilfully orchestrated tracks such as the introductory title track setting the scene. Take In The Roses exudes bliss and sweet melancholy with titles with refined arrangements such as "Green Eyes", "Born In A River" and "Feels Like Coming Home" which will once again highlight the majestic interpretation of Nick Murphy once again with the added bonus of Darkside's Dave Harrington at the helm.

Nick Murphy and The Program will expand into these more romantic and almost cinematic terrains. We want as proof magnificent compositions such as "Things" or also "Morning Meditation" where the combo is in its element before taking its scale with the intoxicating finale named "Old Dog". Far from being a rosewater record, it shines for its elegance which never fades and which will find its audience with its sense of composition.
