JD Twitch - Polyphonic Cosmos (2021)

Optimo Music Tape series. - "These Tapes Are Made For Walking....." Ten exclusive mix tapes from JD Twitch with bespoke design.

Tape 2 is “Poly-Phonic Cosmos (Japanese Technopop and Synthscapes 1979 - 85)" and is two 45 minute mixes of music from Japan I have picked up over the years on various trips to DJ there. Electronic music in Japan in this era very much existed in isolation with the exception of YMO (not included here) who were the solitary break out act internationally. Yellow Magic Orchestra were the tip of an iceberg of artists with very advanced production techniques creating wildly imaginative Technopop and heavenly Synthscapes. It is an introduction to some of the wondrous sounds being produced in Japan at this time and hopefully I've managed to coherently show the scope of styles being explored back then.

Each of these tapes will be C90s (ie 90 minutes of music - 45 minutes per side). All purchasers will also receive a download code for the mix as 2 x 45 minute digital files. These mixes will only be available this way. Digital files not available separately.

This tape also features a riso printed j-card & OBI-style banderole, with artwork designed by Andrew J Beltran and printed by Sunday's sundays-print-service.co.uk

This month there are an extra 50 tapes. The first 120 will go on sale at 10.00 UK time. As there's quite a lot of USA demand 30 will be held back & will go on sale at 17.00 UK time which is 9am on the West Coast of the USA.

Initially I had said if you collect all 10 you’d be eligible for the special edition fanzine but as many people missed Tape 1 and have asked I am changing that to if you collect any 8.

The tapes should arrive from the manufacturer next week, artwork will then be put together and they should start going out late next week.
