Champs Hill Records is delighted to release more great works by David Bowerman. Having only started writing music at the age of 65, these compositions are more reflective than futuristic. For this album, David draws on usic and literature that holds personal ties for him, and the result is a small medley of his thoughts.
The music on this album includes Gerontius Revisted, based on one of the greates choral works writtn by Elgar with the sublime words of Newman. Shakespeare Sonnets gives a new experience to Shakespeare’s sad but amazing writing. Fantasy on a Mastersong was created adter David was listening to a CD of Meistersinger on a distant beach, which gave him the urge to jot down extracts, setting them for a piano trio. The original pieces act as a springboard for Bowerman’s imagination, but he wishes to evoke them, not out:soar them.
A number of well:known artists and friend of Champs Hill appear on this album; Krysztof Chorzelsky, Emily Pailthrope, Stephen De Pledge, The Gould Piano Trio, The Sacconi Quartet and many more...
David’s previous albums A Fantasy Idyll and Favoured Fantasies have been met with critical acclaim: "In each of the pieces, a borrowed musical phrase here, a motivating meoldy there serves as a springboard from which Bowerman teases out and develops new ideas into self:sustaining, imaginative, original compositions." : Fanfare magazine : 2010
