Independent rock band Final Flash's debut album Homeless, which provides a groundbreaking and genre-blending sound, will fascinate listeners from beginning to end.

Emerging from Montreal's music scene, the band provides a new mind-blowing style to their music that cannot be seen from other Canadian bands. Each song blends aspects of alternative folk and psychedelic rock, radiating gentle vocals and hypnotic guitar.

The band's wonderful sound stands out on the track "When the Day Turns Black." The leader singer's fabulously peaceful voice carries the song, while simple drum beats and piano chords blissfully play on in the background. The band's classic rock influences are then displayed in the final minute of the song, as the lead guitarist graces listeners with an epic Led Zeppelin-like guitar solo.

"Black Flame in Me is a Red Flame in You" is a perfect example of Final Flash's overwhelmingly dynamic modern-day style. The song's repetitive and captivating beginning, followed by a very atmospherically hypnotic ending, creates the feeling that the band is taking us on a musical journey. This tune, along with many others, favourably embraces the sound of the Arcade Fire, one of the most popular indie bands to hail from Montreal.

The last song “Awakening” leaves the listener with just that – an awakening; a renewed attention to the independent music scene. A scene that I feel has been fading away. But Final Flash has the ability to change this, as they’re something new and fresh. They bring a new interesting sound to the table, and the entire music industry needs that.

Overall, this is a great album by a band that we may very well see rise in popularity over the coming years. It has very good progression, and never misses a beat as each song flows well into the next. So if you are a fan of alternative rock music, I’d suggest checking this out. But even as good as this album is, Final Flash seems like a band you would definitely want to see live to get the whole experience.
