Holy Other - Lieve (2021) Hi-Res

The world had succumbed to the sound of Holy Other the past decade. David Ainley, real name, had everyone agree with his debut album called Held released in 2012 which won him great reviews. As a result, the British producer faded somewhat from circulation before hitting a big blow at the end of the year with his long-awaited successor by the name of Lieve.

Lieve will put an end to these nine long years of silence but proves that Holy Other has not lost any of its know-how. Always imbued with ambient, drone and experimental electronica influences, this new musical adventure from the Mancunian producer will transport us to a parallel but endearing universe beginning with a "Dirt Under Your Nails". Torn between the organic and the non-organic, the instrumental pieces both ethereal and disturbing like the title track or even "Up Heave" and "Whatever You Are You Not Mine".

With extra-terrestrial synthetic textures where bits of saxophone and strings resonate in the distance, Holy Other continues to impress us. Whether on the adventurous "Groundless" or on "Refuse", the British producer ventures us into labyrinthine terrain where beams of light appear as we advance in the dark until "Shudder" and the conclusion called "Bough Down". With Lieve, Holy Other is reborn from its ashes and offers us a musical journey that is at the height of his talent.
