Alex Van Pelt - Global Crush (2021) Hi-Res

Caught somewhere in between pop songwriting and synthetic explorations, playing with plastic textures and organic matters, Alex (member of the bands Coming Soon and Mont Analogue, and guitarist for Sierra Manhattan, François Virot or Adam Green) sings for the lonely hearts that beat behind the screens.

Written in the loneliness of a Parisian apartment and then recorded between lakes and mountains, "Broken Heart" is a song about the absence of a loved one, pictured by a melancholic and solar synth pop melody.

If the song starts with a leaving ("Let the music play when you leave the room") it ends with a loop ("I sing another lie / True love is always on your side"), just like a fish that goes round in circle in his aquarium and comes back to his original place.

The music video, directed by Victoria Hespel (AKA Vickie Cherie), shows Alex wandering in the chaos of the city. Merging psychedelic Parisian aesthetics with dreamy bedroom pop melodies, the video magnifies the textures and movements of the song with an artistic touch.
