It's been a long time since last heard from OVLOV. The most promising group of Chicago led by Steve Hartlett had not given any sign of life since their unifier TRU released in 2018. Their fuzzy and noisy indie rock was starting to fail us but our patience is truce because here they are back with their successor titled buds.
And that is to say that the fuzzy riffs and their saving rhythm section were missed by all of us, except that OVLOV takes us to more melodic and moving lands. This is not yet the case for the titles because the remarkable sonic blasts such as the introduction called "Baby Shea" short but effective are heard before giving way to more jangly chords on "The Wishing Well" to say the least. dreamlike.
Although the fuzzy distortions are still present, OVLOV goes somewhat for quiet strength. This is particularly the case for "Eat More" or also "Land of Steve-O" on the grounds of post-punk and "Cheer Up, Chihiro! "Where we measure the meaning of Steve Hartlett's songwriting. On weed that ends with the soothing "Feel The Pain", OVLOV pulls off this more melodic turn without alienating its fanbase adept at fuzzy distortions.
