Robyn Lyn Evans is from Ceredigion in mid Wales and is a postgraduate of the Royal College of Music, a graduate of Trinity College Carmarthen, and recipient of the Stuart Burrows Bursary. His singing career started in the Eisteddfod competitions of Wales with highlights including the National Eisteddfod of Wales scholarship, International Young Singer of the Year Llangollen International Eisteddfod, Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize, and Lampeter Eisteddfod Blue Riband.

In the current season engagements include Luigi Il tabarro and Rodolfo La bohème for Mid Wales Opera; and Spectacular Classics and New Year Proms concerts for Raymond Gubbay.

Highlights in recent seasons include Lord Cecil and Roberto in Roberto Devereux for Welsh National Opera; Pinkerton Madama Butterfly and Ruggero La rondine for West Green House Opera; Cavaradossi Tosca for Opera Project; Lensky Eugene Onegin for Mid Wales Opera; Don Ottavio Don Giovanni and Rodolfo La bohème both for English Touring Opera.

Opera roles include Rodolfo La bohème (English National Opera, Opera Project, Diva Opera); Don José, Carmen, Alfredo La traviata and Macduff Macbeth (Scottish Opera); Ismaele Nabucco, Lord Hervey Anna Bolena (Welsh National Opera); Malcolm Macbeth (Opera North); Pinkerton Madam Butterfly (Raymond Gubbay at the Royal Albert Hall); Duke of Mantua Rigoletto (Opera Project, Longborough Festival Opera); Rinuccio Gianni Schicchi and Fenton Falstaff (Opera Project); Nemorino L’elisir d’amore; and Alfred Die Fledermaus (Pavilion Opera). He has also performed Gérald Lakmé, Prince Rusalka, Ernesto Don Pasquale, and Ferrando Cosí fan tutte. Roles understudied include Alfredo La traviata (English National Opera); Leicester Maria Stuarda (Welsh National Opera); and Tebaldo I Capuleti e i Montecchi (Opera North).

Robyn can be frequently heard on the concert platform with countless performances from the oratorio repertoire and appearances which have taken him to the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Philharmonic Hall Liverpool, Usher Hall Edinburgh, St David’s Hall Cardiff, as well as guest soloist with choirs touring Europe.

He is also in demand on radio and television as a performer as well as a vocal commentator for BBC Cymru Television and BBC Radio Cymru and has released two solo albums entitled ROBYN LYN…tenor and Robyn Lyn Evans Tenor Ah! mes amis.

This is the first CD from the gifted tenor from Ceredigion. Amongst the songs are ‘She’, Dawel Nos, Trig Gyda Mi (Abide with Me) and Hen Wlad fy Nhadau. There’s also a delightful duet with Angharad Brinn, Y Weddi. The producer of Caban Coed is Andrew Powell, who has also produced Kate Bush. Robyn is a professional singer and has twice won the Blue Riband at the National Eisteddfod.
