Dave Thomas is a very talented guitarist/vocalist who has performed all around the world, most recently as the Dave Thomas Band, releasing two CD’s, Black Dog Boogie and Blues for Otis in 2005. He has been compared to B.B. King. He has appeared on stage with Fleetwood Mac, Genesis, Deep Purple, Wishbone Ash, Mose Allison, and the Steve Miller Band. Dave had the privilege to play for Paul McCartney at the Texas Embassy in London in 1996 at an event honoring Buddy Holly. Dave appears frequently with American blues artists visiting the UK.
Wallace Coleman is well known in the blues community for his harmonica playing (he has been compared to Little Walter) and rich singing voice. Wallace is a 2005 Ohio Heritage Fellowship award recipient, winner of the 2002 Blues Review Magazine Best Musician award for harmonica, and performed for 10 years with Robert Jr. Lockwood, including the 1998 Grammy nominated I’ve Got to Find Me a Woman.
Dave Thomas met Wallace Coleman early in 2006 while Wallace was performing in the UK. They appeared together at a Shake Down Blues Concert and a good friendship and performing partnership ensued.
Wallace invited Dave to Cleveland in the spring of 2006 where Dave was privileged to meet Wallace’s mentor, Robert Jr. Lockwood and was able to perform with the Lockwood All Stars and Wallace’s band as well. Dave and Wallace were playing some blues on the front porch of Wallace’s home in Cleveland when they decided to record an album together. Plans were made for that November and the rest is history...
An talented ensemble of musicians contributed to the recording of Repossession Blues including Dean Cohen, Gary Nowak, and Duane Carnes on guitar; Vernondo Parker and Scott Flowers on drums; George Lee and Andrew Tomecko on bass; Bill Lestock on mandolin/fiddle/acoustic guitar; Eddie Tomecko on acoustic guitar/backing vocals/percussion; and Jody Getz on backing vocals/percussion. The CD was recorded and engineered by Eddie Tomecko at Audioworks in Parma Heights and was produced by Jody Getz, Wallace Coleman, and David Thomas.
We hope you enjoy Repossession Blues with the same level of joy with which it was made. - Dave Thomas and Wallace Coleman
