Outstation: The Band That Entropy Could Not Defeat

When Outstation split suddenly and dramatically following the 2018 album 'Entropy At The Edge Of Chaos' it appeared to be the end of the road for the UK space rockers. Now, unexpectedly, in 2021 they have reformed to record a new album 'Malevolent Energy'.

In a state of post lockdown 'Entente Cordiale' the five members: Amanda Sanderson (vocals), Kris Aylesbury (sax, flute & synths), Steve Blakeley (guitar & synths), Finlay Smythe (bass) and Mark Durrant (drums) got back in touch to catch up and ensure everyone was keeping safe and well.

Setting old differences aside it soon became clear that life's too short for grievances and a mutual understanding was reached - that music must always come first.

Before long, new songs had been written, performances tracked and CDs arrived box fresh from the factory. Ok, it wasn't quite that easy but the album came together remarkably quickly.

Eight brand new tracks, a push forward to explore new territory (for Outstation at least) and here we have a collection of what the band feel is their best material to date. Space rock continues to weave its thread through each of the songs but there are hints of prog and a much heavier edge applied here and there.
