Revealing his capacity for invention, re-invention and innovation, this stellar line-up gilds each of Handel’s works with fresh dramaticism and beauty. Barnaby Smith writes: “The music is a selection of Handel’s greatest works, and a playlist of favourite tracks recorded by my vocal idols, Andreas Scholl and David Daniels. This music has filled my car on long journeys, been my solace on daily commutes, and invigorated me after long plane journeys or whilst I am out trying to exercise. Having the chance to sing and record these works with esteemed colleagues and friends has been a dream come true. Drawn to this music for its beauty, depth of character and emotion; I was also struck by its innovation at a time when we are all trying to rebuild as we consider ‘These labours past’ in the new world in which we find ourselves.”
