This 7-letters band breaks the norms and proposes an ingenious mix of funk and latin rhythms, where cumbia meets rock with some reggae-flavoured hiphop. Wherever they go, each show is always incredibly full of energy. Formed in 2014 in Geneva, Switzerland, GROOVAH has played in several festivals (Fête des Couleurs, Festival Les Bords de Lac...) and clubs (L'Usine, Théâtre du Léman, Chat Noir, Village du Soir, Moulin Rouge, Bouffon de la Taverne, Fondation L'Abri...). They've also had the opportunity to share the stage with some well-known artists such as Pep's (FR), Alejandro Reyes (CH) and Novalima (PE).
In 2016, they released their first album MOVIMIENTO, recorded, mixed and mastered by Greg Dubuis (Bastian Baker, Eric Truffaz, Sophie Hunger...) at Studio du Flon in Lausanne, Switzerland, and entirely self-produced. These eleven original compositions prove a successful marriage of genres and a certain will of ... This same year, they've released their two first videoclips, DESTINO and ENERGIA, and meet Duvoisin Guitars, official partner of the band since GROOVAH won the Electrify Contest 2016.
Their style, described by themselves as an 'exotic-urban groove', is a blend of influences : when Santana's and Hendrix's guitar riffs meet Irakere, with a smell of carribean rhum-flavoured Jamiroquai...
