Uros Spasojevic was born in 1985 in the City of Valjevo, Republic of Serbia. He began studying the violin when he was nine years old. At fifteen, he started playing bass guitar and double bass. At seventeen, he played double bass in the youth jazz big band in his home town. Two years later, he moved to Belgrade and gained significant playing experience in both studios and live performances with prominent pop and rock artists from Serbia. He also performed throughout Europe with ethno-music groups. This helped him become especially familiar with the ethno music of the Balkans and World music. In 2010, he returned to Valjevo and formed his first acoustic jazz trio and quartet. Until now, he has released eight albums of his original compositions: “Portrait in Bass” (2014), “Story on Bass” (2015) that received high praises in the United States of America, most prominently, in the reviews of a music journalist and a writer Walter Kolosky and the music critics of a leading world fusion music brand and record label “Abstractlogix” who graded this album 4.5 out of 5 stars. Album “Third View” (2016) featured special guests Scott Kinsey, who was mixing and mastering engineer, saxophonist Bob Reynolds and guitarist Nir Felder. In 2016, this album was included in the top 5 most interesting Serbian jazz records, as selected by the editor of broadcasting station Radio Novi Sad, and in the top 15 albums recommended by the owner of the American record label Moonjune Records. Uros’s fifth album “V”, recorded in cooperation with a pianist Bojan Marjanovic, was published in December 2018 by the Norwegian record label “Amp Music Records” and gained high praises from international critics. Albums “Expressions” (2017), “Winter Tales” (2020) and “Melody”, published by “Valternativa Recordings” in June 2020 are a solo bass projects. Uros Spasojevic is an original auteur with a distinctive approach to bass playing who gives his instrument an unusual and unconventional role.
