The stunning new album from acclaimed Italian pianist/composer. Sol Novo is Olivia Belli’s first album on XXIM Records, following her previous release River Path, which gained more than 30 million streams in just a few months. Sol Novo means ‘New Sun’ or ‘New Day’ - it is a reference to ‘The Divine Comedy’ by Dante (1265-1321), whose 700th anniversary of death is celebrated this year. She studied piano to conservatoire level, working her way through the classical repertoire and developing a particular passion for the works of the 20th and 21st century – from Ligeti and Stockhausen to the American experimentalists Cage, Crumb, Reich and Glass. Belli leans towards lyricism - her music tells the stories of small daily miracles rather than epic adventures.
