In 1933 Raucheisen began the project of a comprehensive documentation of the German-language song on records and/or later on magnetic tapes. 1940 he became director of the department of song and chamber music at the Berliner Rundfunk and increased since then his recording activities enormously. With the best singers of its time and himself at the piano he recorded enormous amounts of songs for the German Reichsrundfunk. These productions, which represented an important activity for many singers after the closing of most opera houses in 1943, continued into the last days of the Second World War in the spring 1945. Beginning of the 1980s many of these recordings appeared on vinyl and became strongly inquired rare pieces in the future. Now the recordings that survived the bombs of the World War have been put together on 66 CDs - an amazing box set with about 80 hours was born!
