This album was inspired by Sara Wheeler's excellent book "Terra Incognita: Travels In Antarctica". There is plenty of scientific and academic writing about Antarctica, but Sara was one of the first people to write about it from the human perspective.
Jon's Notes: "We journeyed to the end of the world. Armed with an antenna and a laptop, we captured the signals of the magnetosphere. By converting the radio information into audio data with the assistance of proprietary software, we have tapped into the true music of the planet itself. Field recordings were taken of hissing icebergs, the soft chiming of clouds of frost crystals suspended in the air, groaning glaciers, and low frequency murmurs of incomprehensibly large seas of ice. Carefully arranged and programmed back at the studio, our aim is to send the listener to the most desolate place on earth, the true final frontier."
