Haloo Helsinki! has come back to town, welcome. Elli Haloo, Jere Marttila, Leo Hakanen and Jukka Soldan have taken a couple of years of band break, during which members have had their own projects. Reconciliation Don't Be Afraid of Life is as powerful and empowering as the previous six albums, but there is more to play with different genres in both lyrics and melodies.
The band members have said that they have wanted to expand their world of music - and have succeeded. The album’s opening track The Folio Hat Trader questions people’s narrow-mindedness and conspiracy theories in a timely manner, albeit in self-evident terms. Immediately after that, Reiviluola continues the band's familiar and functional rock line. Oh when you get to a gig soon!
In addition, the album criticizes consumption with big band swings (Lady Domina) and wishes for world peace with Irish music (Once a month). And of course, musicians who have grown up enjoy love on the one hand and long for it on the other.
The hit Hide My Tears, released in the spring, describes the post-difference mood in a halo-Helsinki-like touch but without too syrupy a metaphor. Will the friendship with the father-in-law succeed? “The wedding invitation might have been too much,” replies the song’s selfie.
