Two classic albums of dub from Erroll Brown – both maybe a bit more obscure than his classics of the time, but which also show the real depths of his talents! Culture Dub is a batch of instrumental dubs of songs from Culture – who were then riding high after their Two Sevens Clash album – taken here by Brown into very moody, very abstract territory – a stretched-out, spacey sound that has all sorts of cool guitar and keyboard elements bubbling amidst the murky basslines and drums. Titles include "Everyday Love Dub", "Skillful Dub", "Iron Sharp Dub", "Freedom Jam", "Deep Root Dub", and "Harder Than The Rest Dub". Medley Dub is a very different record overall – one that reworks older recordings from Sonia Pottinger's catalog of the late 60s and early 70s – rocksteady modes taken into dub territory, with really amazing results!
