Vicmari - Window Curtains (2021)

Blur Records is proud to present the second album of South African DJ, Producer and Live Performer - Vicmari!

Since his debut album Audiodidact' dropped 2016, he has been in a state of subtle evolution and growth. His sound palette has grown and his musical curiosity has seen him arrive in a place that is not strictly rooted in House, Electronica, Afro nor Jazz but rather a combination of all these musical spaces in which he has quietly built a new collection of songs he is calling Window Curtains'.

The album is a warm, introspective journey best enjoyed as the title suggests: sitting nice and cosy in a safe space while peering outside into the world beyond as the subtle groove, melody and harmony of Vicmari's musical wonderings encourage you to let your mind drift away.

A culmination of a 3 year period of creativity and exploration in the dubbed-out soundscapes and warm harmonics that set the tone throughout this thoughtful album, his music has taken him beyond his hometown with collaborations with artists such as songstress Boskasie, Matthew Garton from Good Thinking Music where he recorded Congolese drummer Dieumerci Tshimanga, Nigerian guitarist Akinwale James and local bassist and producer Jerome Bezuidenhout. The album also features collabs with Angel D and Hörschwelle as well as 2 remixes from NY-based Brendon Moeller.

The emergence of a career as organic and natural as Vicmari's is rare anywhere in the world, let alone KwaDabeka township in Durban, South Africa, where his relatively humble beginnings forged a sound that is not only unique but also true to his background, true to his story and true to where he is headed.
