On August 5 this year, Canadian jazz guitarist Lenny Breau would have turned 80 if he had not been found drowned in a swimming pool on top of an apartment complex in Los Angeles in 1984. At that time he was only just 43 years old, and had the world for his feet on his 7-string guitar with fishing line and extra light A-string! Alf Wilhelm Lundberg has followed in Lenny Breau's footsteps, and offers no less than 9 strings, of which 4 are fishing line made of strong material that prevents the strings from breaking when you tune the extra ones! This 9-string guitar expands and builds on Lenny's 7-strings, and also expands with high D and dark A in bass, so you get a register comparable to a grand piano or a harp! Lundberg will cover highlights and core repertoire from Lenny's repertoire, with its own personal twist and with lots of creativity and improvisation, we can look forward to a concert completely out of the ordinary! Lenny Breau was very inspired by pianists in his guitar playing, and part of the music for the concert will be signed by both Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett and McCoy Tyner, perhaps the pianists who influenced Lenny Breau's guitar playing the most! There will also be music that shows Lenny's love of both country and flamenco, which he in his completely unique way mixed with jazz and improvisation, and not least his own compositions where he both sang and played guitar.
