Call Me Mildy - It's About Time (2016)

Call Me Mildy's debut CD 'It's About Time' is based on a few simple premises. It's creator, singer/songwriter Greg Mildenberger, says it's his vision of creating an album of eclectic, interesting songs. "Considering that rockin' blues is home base for me, there is a definite flavour of that on the album. I love playing the blues harmonica, and I layer it into a lot of my songs. But I like to stray far from home base, and this album is a reflection of that."

Indeed, 'It's About Time' goes through a range of rock and blues genres, including the tex-mex vibe of 'I Don't Mind', the southern rock ballad 'Missing You', slide guitar-fed '13 Bar Blues' and 'Good Dog Blues', and a bevy of rockin' blues like the title of his music video and lead-off cut, 'Highway 59'. But there's more twists along the way. The dreamy ballad 'She's My Woman' provides a visualization of lovers anticipating their reunion at the end of the day, while the rockabilly cats will howl at 'Two O'clock in the Morning'. Add in interesting vocal harmonies from lead guitarist Dale Thomas, and you'll hear the distinctive melodies of Call Me Mildy. In fact, melody and visualization are key elements of Call Me Mildy, and a feature that he feels sets this album apart from typical rockin' blues albums.

Not convinced? Check out his reggae song 'Call My Name'. "I wrote that song to lift the spirits of a good friend, and reggae was fitting for a lot of reasons. I get good feedback from people when we play it live, and I knew that I needed to get this song on the album." Mix in reggae/pop 'Life is Funny' and 'Not My Style' and you might agree that this is no ordinary rockin' blues album.
