The Toy Symphony or Children's Symphony (German: Kindersinfonie, original name Berchtoldsgaden-Musik, known as Cassatio ex G) is an original comic chamber work. It was attributed to Joseph Haydn, but some researchers consider it the author of Leopold Mozart. There is also an opinion that its author is the Austrian Benedictine monk Edmund Angerer (1740-1794). In addition to the string orchestra, children's toy instruments are used in the symphony — a cuckoo, a drum, a rattle, a trumpet, a triangle.
Bruno Aulich believes that " this is not a symphony, not a work for children and it was not composed by Joseph Haydn." The origin of this work is associated with the city of Berchtesgaden, the center of toy production, the composition itself is intended for advertising purposes. Aulich believes that the music of the" Children's Symphony " definitely belongs to Leopold Mozart, and the arrangement belongs to a certain Reinprechter, his student. Mozart's father sent toy makers to his student and allowed him to rework certain parts of his "Children's Symphony". The imaginary authorship of Joseph Haydn added popularity to this work and allowed it to survive in time.
