The Everly Brothers is an American duo of brothers Don and Phil Everly that debuted in 1956 and enjoyed great success in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The duo adhered to the country and rockabilly genre, but had a significant impact on the future stars of the new scene: The Beatles (who arranged the vocals of "Please Please Me" modeled on "Cathy's Clown"), The Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkel.
26 singles from The Everly Brothers were in the Billboard Top 40, three of them climbed to the top of the list. In 1986, they were among the first ten performers to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Neil Young noted in his speech that all the groups in which he ever took part, "... tried to copy the vocal harmony of the Everly brothers and each time they failed."
In 1997, the duo received an honorary Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked them 33rd on the "50 Greatest Artists of All Time" list.
