Sun Of The Suns - Tiit (2021)

We have a trio here with their debut album “TIIT” which includes guest musicians Francesco Paoli (Fleshgod Apocalypse) on drums & Simone Mularoni (DGM, Empyrios) on bass!

The Introduction I Demiurge pt 1 leaves you bracing yourself for what’s next, as we’re then thrown into the song I Demiurge pt 2! So far it has the heaviness of the likes of Gojira (which is a very good thing), throw in a little more chaos and you get Sun of The Suns. The more the song progresses, the more I enjoy it.

The Golden Gate is ready to become a metal earworm with that chorus. We start to get very Job For a Cowboy-esque vocals from Luca during the end of the second verse before the guitar solo. At 4:15 the sudden change of tempo/rhythm is a great surprise and really shows the diverse range of what this group has to offer. The album continues to stay strong with TIIT & Obsolescence Corrupted being strong tracks, with plenty of grooves being evident in the latter. The album remains consistent until we get to Hacking The Sterile System. It’s catchy, yet confusing. Compared to the rest, it sounds a little all over the place. However at 3:07 we get vocals that remind me a lot of Joe Duplantier, which are impressive, and suit the intensity of the track. I liked the tone of the track, but felt a lot of the background sounds to be pretty distracting and not the best placed. The album after this continues to be a metal whirlwind of epic proportions as we then conclude with an outro during I Emperor Of Nothingness, which wraps up the album nicely.

Whilst the group may not be new to the scene, the fact that this is a debut for these guys as a group is pretty grand! Luca has one hell of an impressive vocal range, the guitarists are tight and the guest musicians are flawless. Their music is enjoyable throughout & not predictable in the slightest! I’m curious to see where they go from here. If you’re into the idea of a Sci-Fi concept album mixed with extreme metal then you’re in for a treat!
