Gernot Ziegler - Aussichten (2021)

Together with the Portuguese bassist Zeca de Oliveira and the Karlsruhe drummer Stefan Günther-Martens, the Karlsruhe pianist Gernot Ziegler processes a wide range of his musical influences from modern jazz and fusion in his band "Mobile Home". Sometimes only a basic rhythm gives the idea for one of his compositions, sometimes it's a melody or a series of sounds. Clearly composed arrangements are on an equal footing with short sketch-like templates for improvisation, melodic funk and swing lines next to pulsating, wobbling sounds. Lately Ziegler has also devoted himself more and more to the electric piano, adding another note of its own to the classic piano trio sound.

DasJazzpodium 11/12 2010 writes about the band's last album “Mobile Home” œ: “The three give the classic format of the piano trio a melodic, almost poppy, never insignificant, optimistic touch that draws its inspiration from European classical music, African rhythms, the modern jazz and its own vein for a lyrical atmosphere. «… An album of narrative breadth and intimate closeness.
