Sydän Laulaa - Sydän Laulaa
A shaman told me once, that there is only one real way to sing - to sing from the heart. This idea is the basis of Sydän Laulaa (engl."The Heart Sings). The first album, Sydän Laulaa, is a solo album by Jarno Oivakumpu, Tampere -based Finnish artist. On the album he sings and plays everything by himself. Later on Sydän Laulaa has started growing in numbers as other people join the heart's song.
Sydän Laulaa -album is an adventure on ten tracks through various atmospheres and genres. Sources for inspiration have been among others art music, jazz, world music, mantra music, meditation, Finnish nature, family, seeing beauty in every day of life and seeing the great spirit in everyone's eyes.
Sydän Laulaa -album is sang in four languages and it also has two instrumental tracks. Singing guides the journey while the flute colours the story. There are many stories and mysteries concerning the birth of the songs. Although I've composed music for years for different instruments, now and then I end up with a question: where did that melody, chord progression or lyrics came from? I'm still looking for answer to that question.
Peace and love!
