Matthew Gwinup - Northwest Serenade (2021)

Matthew Gwinup started his musical life with the piano at age five. At age twenty Matt moved to Ashland, Oregon to pursue his Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from Southern Oregon University.

During his time at SOU his musical focus was classical guitar instead of the piano. He also took part in many other ensembles on campus, including: Guitar quartet, Jazz ensemble, Jazz combo, Concert Choir, Indonesian gamelan ensemble, West African drumming ensemble, and on a few occasions, Percussion ensemble. Matt performed in many Master classes for visiting guitarists, the last of which was for composer/performer Andrew York.

Matthew returned to his hometown of Bend, OR in 2011 and has been teaching private music lessons and performing around Oregon and the Northwest ever since. Besides his solo guitar career he also plays with several different ensembles. Five Pint Mary, an Irish rock band, Oregon guitar trio, and cover/rock band Toothpick shaker.
