To be a good musician, I feel like you first have to be a true music fan. I have the fandom part down pat, and I suppose the good musician part comes slowly throughout your lifetime. The songs that we chose here have helped build the foundation of popular music. In recording new versions, you run the risk of giving the impression that we feel like we could do them better than they’ve already been done. Let me be clear—this is not the case, in no way, shape, or form. We come at these songs as nothing more than real fans of the music. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery and we recorded these songs simply because we like them. We recorded them using elements of our own styles but also let them speak for themselves. We recorded them to say thank you to all those who have inspired us to make music. Let me just say, we had a blast. I hope that you find this collection as entertaining as it was for us to record.
