Halli Crigi - Shinedown (2021) Hi-Res

Halli Crigi is a trio formed by FJ González Torres (Electric guitar), Thomas van Nieuwenhoven (Drums) and Luka Schuurman (Electric guitar), it originates almost by chance when FJ invites Luka Schuurman to join him and Thomas van Nieuwenhoven in what would be the continuation of Migi Hidari (FJ González Torres / T van Nieuwenhoven “Migi Hidari”, Keroxen 016, 2021. It eventually becomes Shinedown, the first album of this new trio which represents a first and definitive step towards stylistic and interpretive freedom for the aforementioned musicians.

Shinedown, like Migi Hidari, is recorded on a four-track tape recorder (A-3440) in the living room of anyone’s house in a random and urgent way, mixed and produced by Halli Crigi, without much fanfare but full of resources and spontaneity.

Luka Schuurman is becoming, despite his young age, a figure of reference on the experimental scene in Amsterdam, a musician without limits, of a generation that has yet to demonstrate what will characterize it in the future. FJ González Torres is a musician from Santa Cruz de Tenerife with many projects behind his back (Isladiablo, Mustersiete, Harmonium, nonac, Monocroma and Gallo among others), who has finally found himself in improvisation, without a network, without limitations stylistic, avoiding belonging to any movement that is not merely kinetic. Thomas van Nieuwenhoven is an old acquaintance of the Amsterdam scene, where he has been part of multiple groups (Childrensumadre, Neopagans, Gallo, etc.), he is one of those drummers capable of playing only when necessary, to use the resources available to him like a child fooling around for the first time with a toy, despite and thanks to his enormous experience.
