Weltraum - Nyx (2019)

Weltraum is a German band formed back in 1999 with a mission to provide this world with Spaced-Out improvisational music! They have released so far more than 20 self-produced albums (most are recordings of live gigs). Their first official release was “Magnolia” CD in 2009 while in 2011 they released their first vinyl, “Sounds Of The Underground”. “NYX” is Weltraum’s latest release, scheduled for release through Tonzonen Records on double LP and CD. The musicians that participate on this release are Conny (guitars), Bozzi (modular synth), Dora (bass), Alex. (bass), Armin (djembe), Denniz (drums), Brainy (guitars) and Schwong (guitars). “NYX” comprises of 6 tracks while the 5 of them are recorded live on 3 different places, at Zychedelic Numberg 03/2018, at Spaceparty 08/2018 and at Psychedelic Odysse/Jazzkeller Hofheim. “Zychedelics” (20:17) is a long improvisational live jamming (of course!!!), ultra spacey effected, with a sharp electric guitar sound but with a spacey trippy attitude, getting out there, in the infinite Space, experimenting with various sounds, transmitting different colorful feelings, becoming hot and then cold, becoming dark and then luminous, blending with numerous space-seagulls that are leading the way to some lost frozen planet! “Spiral 3” (19:26) starts and the Spaceship is surrounded by large homopterous transparent Insects! This is an acoustic kind of spacey-rock that fills the air while the band is performing a blend of Tribal Space Music, trying to reach the desired vortex that will lead them away from the dangerous mutant cicadas, slowly getting away from the acoustic set and becoming faster and faster, it feels like they’re trying to enter in a state of trance! Under the relaxing sounds of the sea waves, the guitar of “The Sea” (10:27) unfolds a trippy space-rock pattern followed by the rest instruments, leading your mind into an imaginary utopia of a parallel universe! “Drones” (11:27) has a deep space-rock rhythm, this track is a continuous sonic attack to your ears, playing tricks with your mind! Superb Impro Space Buzzing tune! My personal favorite in here! “(3908)” (14:25) starts with various experimental “wooden” sounds, slowly improvising under a spacey soundscape, leading to an acute outburst, exploding in front of you and releasing to the air dangerous Space Toxic Bubbles! Eventually, the album closes with “Styx” (3:55), a weird experimental “outro”, spacey and simultaneously earthly too! Well, Weltraum have their own musical aspect about Instrumental Spaced-Out Improvised Rock, an aspect that is being developed and integrated for the last 20 years and it has a really strong following!
