After migrating to Australia at 13, I completed my education at Corinda High School Qld and started in music soon after , initially with like minded migrant kids in Wacol hostel. Over the course of the next 4 years I gigged with various small bands around Brisbane/Qld before forming "Head" with Pete Wells. Head relocated to Sydney changing our name to "Buffalo" and were offered a recording contract with "Phonogram" releasing 5 albums on their "Vertigo" label (only non English band released on this iconic Heavy Rock label). Buffalo earned Aria nominations and Gold records and toured non-stop for 7 years, headlining concerts and festivals all over Australia and supporting international tours by Black Sabbath, Rainbow, Slade, Status Quo and many others.
Buffalo disbanded in 1977 when I accepted an invitation from UK band "The Count Bishops" to join them as they recorded their first album for Chiswick records in London, for 3 years "The Bishops" toured UK/Europe and recorded 3 albums and various singles. One single making top 40 in the British charts and leading to an appearance on "Top of the Pops" before a fatal car accident led to the death of our Rhythm guitarist putting paid to our ambitions. I stayed in England until 1984, performing with many notorious players in various line-ups.
In 1984 returned to Australia and formed the "Headhunters" with Mick Cocks and Mark Evans recording an Album "Outlaw Boogie" and touring (as you do). Short stints with Mal Eastick and Phil Emanuel filled a couple of years before I formed "The Dave Tice Band". Early 2001 I recorded my first solo album "Lay Down With Dogs" and contributed vocals on an album by the "Bar Kings" winning "Duo or Band of the year" from the Blues Society.
Spent 22 years gigging with Mark Evans in our acoustic duo.
