Vos Voisins - Vos Voisins (Reissue, Remastered) (1971/2011)

One of the most requested releases amongst fans of the ProgQuebec catalogue is finally on CD! Of all the circumstances to give rise to a progressive rock band, touring as the backup band for standup comedian Yvon Deschamps must be one of the most improbable. First keyboardist/composer Jacques Perron and drummer Pierre Ringuet, and then guitarist Serge Vallieres and bassist Andre Parenteau met while accompanying Robert Charlebois, Louise Forestier and Mr. Deschamps. In 1970, they formed Vos Voisins in collaboration with lyricist Marcel Sabourin, and released their only self-titled album (which would end up having two successive album covers) in 1971. The music is an eclectic mix of hard rock and ballads full of humoristic lyrics, and progressive instrumentals. One of the songs, “The Main Monster”, became a local radio hit. Both album covers are reproduced in the booklet, as well as previously unseen photos and biographic notes. And as a bonus treat, both sides of their 1970 single are included.
