Hush Hush Records is thrilled to present the sublime debut album 'Swimming' by Marigold Sun, the solo alias of NYC-based Singaporean-Australian musician Eric Li Harrison.

While 'Swimming' marks his first offering under the Marigold Sun moniker, Eric has previously been a member of bands in his home country of Australia, with the most prominent collaborative project finding a home on Australia’s premier label Future Classic. Recently relocating to New York following the natural ebb-and-flow of life changes, Eric began writing music on his own and forging a new sound to define his solo works. Finding deep inspiration in new and old friendships, as well as the mountain foxes and calm quiet mornings that surround his creative environment in rural New York, Eric’s piano-based sketches gradually began to take shape.

With nearly four years’ worth of ideas in tow, Eric spent the long winter of 2020/2021 recording between his home studio in Brooklyn and a barn in the Catskill Mountains of New York. These efforts have led to his 10-track debut solo album 'Swimming,' an immersive record with a consistently warm, cinematic, and blissful sound. Piano-soaked neo-classical instrumentals rest comfortably next to colorful synth-led ambient passages, while blissful jazzy downtempo beats are briefly sprinkled in to further showcase his eclectic palette. Whether his piano arrangements are laid clean and bare, or find themselves stretched, looped, and transformed into new sonic landscapes, there’s an affinity for organic textures and a rich melodic streak that allows the album to explore different pockets of styles in a cohesive and effortless fashion.

In a nod to the album’s namesake, Eric’s vision for 'Swimming' was to create the feeling of care-free weightlessness that one experiences when floating in salty water. From the buoyant first notes of the album’s opening title track, to the hopeful melodies of closing track “Kosciusko,” 'Swimming' masterfully provides that desired effect with a meditative soundtrack that fosters a sense of inner calm, and optimism about the future.
