Produced by Dodicilune, distributed in Italy and abroad by Ird and in the best online stores by Believe, "Santuario" is released on Friday 18 June, the first recording project of the duo composed of Javier Girotto and Vince Abbracciante. The disc features eleven original compositions by the Argentine saxophonist ("Sanctuary of the animals", "Fugorona", "Trama della Natura", "2 de Abril", "Aramboty") and by the Apulian accordionist ("Ninar", "En Mi", "Fuga a Sud", "Pango", "Impressions of Puglia" and "Soprano") and the reinterpretation of "The Last Chance" by Luis Bacalov, the main theme of the soundtrack of the homonymous film by Maurizio Lucidi.
It is certainly not the first time that jazz and Argentine traditions have fallen in love until they end up in a vigorous embrace, similar to an impetuous and sudden tango. It is not even the first time that the accordion, a popular instrument (if it can be said) that carries in its body the echo of a mixture of all the folklores of the world, is emboldened to leave its traditional universe with delight. But Abbracciante and Girotto (who alternates soprano saxophone and bariton and the flute of the Andes), lyrical and very melodic, always seeking intimate conversations with their instruments, have the sensitivity and talent to raise this exercise of "style" to the highest degree of aesthetic fulfillment and sentimental poetry. Together since 2015, the two artists offer original music, giving "new bridges between jazz, folklore, tango", free improvisation and neoclassical writing with melancholy and passionate excerpts, expressive refinement of their musical universe that addresses so much to the soul as to introspective thinking.
