Moody progressive rock 'n' roll that tells a story…edgy, dark, classic. Sometimes sarcastic, maybe a bit cynical with a touch of humor, sometimes moody and serious. All the time entertaining. Lanes Laire finds his home in both Sedona, AZ and Boise, ID.
Through trial and error, through experimentation, through perseverance, Lanes Laire has come full circle to the core of his being…his musical roots. Originally from Los Angeles, Lanes started his musical career playing in various bands while still in high school, performing all over Hollywood and the famed Sunset Strip. However, he always stood out from the crowd musically, bringing a moody progressive edge to his songwriting. He was the “Peter Gabriel” to Genesis. And like Peter, he eventually moved on as a solo artist.
Over the years after the “Hollywood” days, Lanes Laire experimented with different genres of music and shelved the songs he wrote back at the beginning of his career. However, Lanes realized the core of his being lay with his musical roots and he knew it was time to resurrect his old songs…and the creation of Resurrection Of Black began.
The album really came together the beginning of 2015 when his friend, keyboardist and arranger Wally Minko hooked him up with drummer Gregg Bissonette and bassist Matt Bissonette. This was the powerful backbone Lanes was looking for to give his music life and the edgy crossover progressive energy he had sought. Though the songs were written many years ago, they are just as relevant today as they were back then.
Resurrection Of Black is a powerful album. The music is rocking and the songs are provocative. Though not necessarily a concept album, Resurrection Of Black does contain an underlying theme and is best listened to from start to finish. Of course, each song stands out on its own but the entire album experience flows seamlessly and by the end of the last track, you’re left with wanting more.
