Bitterblue is Bonnie Tyler's 1991 album, which has achieved a four-time platinum record rating in Norway. The album’s producers include Dieter Bohlen and Giorgio Moroder, with the latter also singing a duet on the album. Renowned Albert Hammond and Diane Warren also worked with Bonnie in a Los Angeles studio. Several songs from the album were released as singles, of which Against the Wind became one of the main songs in the German crime series "Crime Scene" and topped the Finnish chart.
In 1990, after Bonnie Tyler’s contract with Columbia ended, she signed with German-based label BMG Hansa for up to 3 major albums and a compilation album. His first debut single was released on the new label as Breakout. The song was written by Harold Faltermeyer and became an insert for the action comedy Fire, Ice & Dynamite.
Work on the new album began in 1991. Dieter Bohlen is one of the most prominent composers and producers. Bohlen wrote five songs for the new album, including Against the Wind became the main song of the German crime series Crime Scene (Schimanski - Tatort) and topped the Finnish chart. Italian-born Giorgio Moroder has worked with Bonnie Tyler on four songs, including the duet Heaven is Here, in which the two sing. Albert Hammond and Diane Warren worked with Bonnie on three songs. Two Roy Orbison adaptations, Careless Heart and Save Me, were orchestrated for the new album. Nik Kershaw wrote the song He’s Got a Hold on Me for Bonnie. Bonnie Tyler herself wrote a song that was also featured on her November 11, 1991 album Bitterblue.
