The Hofkapelle München (Munich Court Orchestra) is an excellent period ensemble that has been “instrumental” in exploring the music history of southern Germany. Director Lotter is also a virtuoso baroque violinist, as he proves in the Biber piece. Performances are very good all around, with first-rate work from soloists Stefan Schilli (oboe), Eva Fegers and Anne-Suse Enssle (recorders), and Axel Wolf (lute). High-quality sound and an interesting booklet wrap up an appealing package.
