After their successful release Le masque de fer The Iron Mask with French instrumental music from the sphere of the seventeenth centurys most famous prisoner, the young Ensemble La Ninfea follows up with two world premiere recordings for recorder and viola da gamba. Barbara Heindlmeier and Ensemble La Ninfea belong to the up-and-coming generation in early music; they have occupied intensively themselves with historical performance practice and still discover hidden treasures of early music with refreshing joy of playing and, at the same time, perfection. The beauty of the flauto dolces warm tones paired with riveting virtuosity let the richly detailed sonatas of Signore A. H. Schultzen appear as a true trouvaille for the recorder repertoire, complemented on this co-production with Radio Bremen by the contrasting and richly varied anonymous viola da gamba sonatas that are played by Christian Heim and Marthe Perl.
