Even though Louden Swain is the definition of 'indie', their fourth full length release "Eskimo" isn't what you might think of when you think of 'indie rock'. The songs are well-crafted with accessible lyrics and melodies, layered with harmonies, and full of sonic clarity as they paired up with renown mixer Joe McGrath (Ryan Adams, Morrissey, etc) and Grammy winning mastering guy Gavin Lurssen (Eric Clapton, Lenny Kravitz, Ben Harper, etc) after producing the album themselves. The record covers a range of emotions from the moving opener "Like The Heart Goes" thru the jazz influenced "Cigarette" to the stirring raw acoustic closer "Past Perfect". Louden Swain has built their fan base by engaging the listener and embracing their own diverse influences which range from the current (Wilco, Dr. Dog, My Morning Jacket) to the classics of decades past (Pearl Jam, The Beatles, Tom Petty). The songs on "Eskimo" came together after months of rehearsals and re-writes but was recorded in under four weeks once the arrangements were (mostly!) agreed upon. The band recently completed their first ever European tour where they tried out the new material for eager audiences and came away with a new-found excitement for what lies ahead.
