Tenor saxophonist Jürgen Hagenlocher's motto is 'to preserve and renew' - this reflects both his attitude towards life, and his musical concept. His music is characterized by a respect for the traditions of jazz and the saxophonists John Coltrane and Dexter Gordon, who have significantly influenced his development over the last 22 years.
With 'Confusion' (six compositions by Juergen Hagenlocher and two by guitarist Dano Haider) the band moves in the style of modern jazz. The perfectly rehearsed quartet is backed up in this production by the New York trumpeter Alex Sipiagin, member, among others, of the Michael Brecker Quindectet and the Dave Holland Band. His energetic playing follows the clear, intelligent melodies and supports the distinctive sound that Hagenlocher allows with his powerful, melodic ideas. Dano Haider's guitar encourages and assits the 'Forward Drive' of their music, and drummer Jörg Eckel convinces with absolute nonchalance and aplomb.
The special sounds of Thomas Bauser's original Hammond B3 organ must also be mentioned. His agile playing, sometimes incidental and sometimes provocatively funky, can carry along the whole band.
'Confusion' - brilliantly executed music that spans the gap between tradition and renewal!
Jürgen Hagenlocher, tenor saxophone
Dano Haider, guitar
Thomas Bauser, Hammond B3 organ
Jörg Eckel, drums
Alex Sipiagin, trumpet
