Using Bridge - Floatin Pieces (2018)

"Floatin 'Pieces" is the new record of Using Bridge, a Romagna rock band that arrived at the fourth exit after a path started in 2002 and studded with three previous works ("Sha-Whao", 2004; "and I will be heard", 2012 and the acoustic live "at Night in Acousticland") under the banner of a mixture of sevantian rock and grunge-stoner suggestions.

The new work, totally self-produced, consists of nine songs that shift the sound direction of the group towards the nineties, bringing a vision at once majestic and emotional, where the powerful rhythm of bass and drums support the plots effectively interweaving the two guitars , one to strike a substantial electric rotary, the other to draw stinging fragments of melody or to spread noise. At the center of this granitic gait the voice, deep and mottled with darkness.

"Floatin 'Pieces" was recorded completely live in the studio as regards the basic instrumentation, trying to transmit as much as possible the energy that distinguishes the Using Bridge on stage. Instruments such as piano and rhodes, violin, didgeridoo and rain stick were added to the rock system. Everything was recorded by the drummer Alessandro Bernabei, who together with Manuel Ottaviani (Lead Vocals / Bass), Federico Arcangeli (Guitar / Back Vocals) and Simone Antonelli (Guitar / Back Vocals) composed the current line-up dealing with this work.

The "floating pieces" of the title are the fragments suspended in the years of life of the group that have been merged into an amalgam able to reflect the sound vision of Using Bridge, in which every song makes history to itself: the imperious beginning of " Amigdala ", the evocative closure of" God Knows "with its introspective pathos that stretches along an almost post-rock false floor, a little jewel among trees screaming like the ballad of love" Anymore ".

The songs of Using Bridge try to give order to chaos (the aforementioned opening track), draw salvation lysergic visions ("Velvet Sky"), recount love and instinct (the title-track, "Werewolves") , reflect on existence ("Leave your skin"), describe the power of memory ("Can remember") and obsession ("Run to you"). Each track is the expression of a band in an exceptional state of form, which reaffirms the cathartic and overwhelming power of rock.
