CRoSz - Low Drift (2021)

It takes „merely“ a decade of the seeming hiatus after his debut EP, but David Kriz, aka CRoSz, has been gradually into the music since the early years of the millenium, participated in multimedia projects, collaborations and installations along the way, and thus now he earns years of (generally) volatile creativeness with the sophomore long-player.

He‘s working within (and not just) ambient, IDM, and also electronic music to dance to, describing his own output „deep patterns of the film noir“ as well, while he moves forward to feel like a more lo-fi-esque aesthetics‘ coming through the music material, and finding pleasure with a tapedeck hisses and in the heaviness of a synth-lines..

Saying that his studio by the time started to be occupied with sound hardware lately, so the sound turns to be dirtier, circuiting.. And so he left the taste for sterile clean & clear digital music product that does not satisfy him anymore. He wants to add some vintage patine.

Still mainly composing in the software and using many plug-ins, but „the centre of gravity“ of CRoSz’s production moved to the machines, instruments and other music gadgets, in the reality that is widely inspirational like he mentioned by himself – a clash of a virtual, unreal world with the physical and present one also captures the cover by Tobias Grolich.

On the span of LP tracks, David is varying tempos and moods to an eclectic mixture with emphasis on atmospheres and melodies, attempting to build the cohesive body of work. By his words: „I am more into the diversity that has some kind of logic inside. It amuses me - same like conceptual records for listening - and in the case of my album, this makes the certain compromise of how to keep its shape and avoid repetition, nor do not get bogged down to same-genres stereotype at the same time..“ describing the creation of „Low Drift“.
