Hilde Merete Øverby - Sound of Freya (2021)

Hilde has yoiked with Mikkel Gaup, sung in the Northern Lights Cathedral with Lars Bremnes in support of refugees, had a concert in front of Parliament as a result of her burning commitment to Nature and the Environment.

At her concerts in the North, she has met a colorful, vibrant musical, creative environment that led her to the album SOUND OF FREYA, which will finally be released on 4.6.

Hilde has made most of the album's songs over beautiful poetic melancholic lyrics from the northern Norwegian lyricist Anita Adiana Boucht.

On the album Sound of Freya, Hilde sticks to the same Americana, Country-Folk landscape as on her previous album (Moods Change). The use of acoustic instruments is still prominent, but this time spiced with several elements inspired by Pan Studio in addition to Sami yoik and presence in the title track itself.

The title track "Sound of Freya" is in a duet with Piera Jovnna Somby and the song Hilde has written over his "Trip Hop Joik" as a foundation - in sum this gives a touch of New Age, and the song stands out from the rest of the production.

The album is colored by top studio musicians and high quality production (Pan Studio).

Hilde has this time collaborated with Pan Studio (Tron Arild Syversen, Helene Edler Lorentzen).

With her on the album, she brings with her a bunch of fantastically talented studio musicians such as Børge Petersen-Øverleir (guitars), Jørun Bøgeberg (bass), Paolo Vinaccia (drums), Tron Arild Syversen (keyboards, Pan Studio), Helene Edler Lorentzen (choir, percussion, Pan Studio), Hans Ulviken (bass Feather in the Wind), Jon Egil Ramslie (guitar and harmonica on Feather in the Wind). Per Egeli (drums Feather in the Wind), Piera Jovvna Somby (yoik Sound of Freya, percussion and basic beat).

Hilde has also lured Øyvind Elgenes (Elg) in a duet on Moments, single release 14.5.21.

The album is mixed by Pan Studio and mastered by Peer Espen Ursfjord.

Hilde's genre connection is within the music map Americana - which contains elements of various American music styles, including country, roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, R & B and blues. The use of acoustic instruments is a vital part of her expression.
