Wolfram Oettl - Bernhard Lang: Works for Piano (2021) Hi-Res

Wolfram Oettl’s interest in avant-garde music began while a piano student in Augsburg and Munich. He continued his studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis specialising in the harpsichord, the fortepiano, continuo and the interpretation of early music. Since then, the historical and the new have continued to be his main areas of interest, enriching each other through mutual qualities and a shared eclecticism of language and style.

A fascination with microtonality and just intonation has led to experiments together with Richard Spaeth on alternative piano-tunings based on harmonic series of sounds.

The minimalistic music of Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Michael Nyman and David Lang, has formed a central part of Wolfram Oettl’s modern repertoire, which he has promoted both as a performer and concert organiser. Solo concerts in recent years have increasingly featured the music of Bernhard Lang, with its complex use of repetition and innovative handling of historical material.
