Originally from Mexico City. He started his career in the cycle The guitar today (INBA). He has earned a solid reputation as a performer, teacher, and artistic director of various classical guitar festivals, such as the Cuernavaca International Guitar Festival, the Guitar Foundation of America festival in the United States, and the UADY Classical Guitar Festival. He graduated from the Estudio de Arte Guitarrístico, Manuel López Ramos, and The Boston Conservatory of Music, where he studied his postgraduate studies with Neil Anderson receiving the highest honors. He has been a fellow of national and foreign cultural institutions. He taught guitar at the Conservatory of Music of the State of Mexico and at the Centro Morelense de las Artes. He is the founder, general director and teacher of the School of Music at Universidad La Salle Cuernavaca. He recorded under the supervision of the composer Manuel Enríquez the album Música mexicana and in 2000 his second recording appeared, De pura cepa, with music by Manuel M. Ponce and Astor Piazzolla. He published in the prestigious Editions Orphée the first guitar concerto composed in the 20th century, by the Mexican composer Rafael Adame. He was invited to the Torrent International Guitar Festival in Valencia, Spain, to perform the European premiere of this work with the Torrent Symphony Orchestra. He has played with the Morelos Symphony Orchestra and the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra. Since 2001 he has been a judge in the most important national and international guitar competitions. He recently appeared on the television show People and Arts, alongside flutist Vincenzo Garulli. He has performed at important international festivals, in which he premiered contemporary works by Mexican composers and offered master classes. In the summer of 2005 he toured Italy, Switzerland and France and in the 2006-2007 season he performed in the Czech Republic, Argentina and Italy. He is currently a teacher at the Higher School of Arts of Yucatán, Autonomous University of Yucatán, and at the José Jacinto Cuevas School of Music.
