Comprised of members Bob Kimbell (vocals), Nick Rudd (guitar), Rick Shattnik (bass), and John Richardson (drums), Weird Summer has been compared to such acclaimed country rockers as Neil Young and the Byrds. The group has issued several albums, including 1998's I.S.O. (In Search Of) and 1995's Incarnata Mysterica, the latter of which included vocals from Kimbell's pal, Jack Logan.
Finally out of seclusion, this was Weird Summer's first album in eight years. Incarnata Mysterica contains twelve brand new songs from the mind of Bob Kimbell. Bob's signature song writing and soaring vocals are offset by the guitar playing of Nick Rudd (Blown) and the rhythm section of Rick Shattnik and John Richardson (Tommy Keene, Adam Schmitt).
Genuine songs that ring true are Weird Summer trademarks. The music is filled with hooks and incredibly great, heart-felt lyrics. It's got a wonderfully pervasive Mid-Western feel about it... great for a road trip.
Incarnata Mysterica includes one track co-written by Kimbell's pal, Jack Logan.
Magnet Magazine:
"What a voice. That is the first and lasting impression left by Bob Kimbell, the creative dude behind Weird Summer. Kimbell writes and hangs with the remarkable Jack Logan, but there is none of Logan's beer fueled laxness here. Instead, Kimbell sings his well-crafted guitar pop tunes in this high, wistful voice, which recalls Neil Young- if Young could hit the right notes...Eight years is too long. Stay in touch, Bob."
