An American pop singer who became popular in the early seventies and over the next twenty years has not left the musical Olympus of the United States. Carly is the author of all her songs, many of which are popular all over the world today.
The singer began her musical career with a family duet. Carly's older sister Lucy also had a good voice and at the age of 16 she began her professional career as a singer. Then Lucy also connected Carly, who accepted the offer with great desire. The girls formed the duo "The Simon Sisters" and performed successfully with folk songs in a city bar in Provincetown, Massachusetts, until they were noticed by David Kapp, who is the owner of the music studio "Kapp Records". He saw talent in the girls and signed a contract to record a duet album. The pop duo recorded songs and performed at various venues until early 1971, when Carly became disillusioned with the duo's success. She decided to pursue a solo career and sing only her own songs, which, in her opinion, were much more interesting than the old repertoire.
At the end of 1971, Carly Simon released his self-titled debut album "Carly Simon". The album was very much liked by music critics, who rampant praised the talent of both the singer and the songwriter. But Carly's worldwide fame was brought by the 1973 album "No Secrets", from which the single "You're So Vain" confidently settled on the first line of the Billboard Hot 100 and stayed there for more than a month. During the seventies, the pop singer released 8 albums, of which many songs were in the top ten charts on both sides of the ocean. Here are some songs: "The Right Thing to Do" - # 4, "Mockingbird" - # 5, "Have Not Got Time for Pain" - # 2, "Nobody Does It Better" - # 1, "You Light Up My Life "- No. 1 and song of 1977.
The 80s began unsuccessfully for the singer. Constant touring, rehearsals and social activities crippled the singer's health. During the presentation of her new album "Come Upstairs" the singer fell unconscious. Doctors determined the diagnosis as nervous exhaustion and forbade the singer to lead an active lifestyle for a long time. In the first half of the 80s, Carly rarely performed live, but studio recordings of albums were sold in millions of copies. The 1980 hit "Jesse" stayed in the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 for almost half a year. The next 2 albums did not reach special heights and only in 1986 Carly Simon presented one of her best hits "Coming Around Again". In 1987, the album of the same name was released, which quickly went platinum, and the song "Itsy Bitsy Spider" was nominated for a Grammy as the best song of the year for children.
