The Five Dollar Sugar - Show Band & Revue (2012)

The Five Dollar Sugar Show Band and Revue are a young, determined, and well-polished Blues Experience. A four-piece group of multi-instrumental, high energy entertainers; they are focused on sharing the blues with their generation of listeners. Similar to their influences (Freddie King, John Lee Hooker and Tom Waits, to name a few), they've crafted their own brand of electric blues, ringing with all the Chicago, Delta and Texas overtones of their parents record collections. Wielding an array of original compositions that range from slow, crooning piano ballads to driving, burn-down harmonica boogies, "The Sugar" bring an exciting, unpredictable performance to every show they play. Still in their freshman year, the band has already been featured three times on 97.5 KMOD, placed 2nd in The Tulsa Blues Society's 9th Annual Blues Challenge, opened the stage for two national acts, released one acoustic album, one live album and two full length albums. "The Sugar" has recently received The Blues Society of Tulsa's Best Self Produced Album of the Year Award and are the winners of The 2012 Oklahoma Blues Society's Blues Challenge.
