'I Am Leaving' is the latest EP by Vítor Bacalhau, a record where the southern-Portuguese blues/rock artist goes deeper than ever into his bluesier and rootsier influences.
The first single of the same name shows a different side of the artist's musical identity, in a passionate and emotional acoustic performance. “I Am Leaving is a metaphor for those times when we need to address certain issues and change some things in our lives”, confesses the artist about the song that names the new EP. “It's an anthem to personal change and growth.”
For the first time, after three albums and five years of an ever-evolving career, Vitor and his band recorded the album's basic tracks in the South of Portugal, Algarve, at Paraíso 530 studios, in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Some of the overdubs of the album were then done by Vítor and Budda Guedes at the Mobydick Records studios in Braga, where the performances of two very special guests were also recorded: João Andresen, an emerging talent of blues harmonica in Portugal, who’s contribution really added to the Blues content of the record, and Rita Sampaio, the singer of the band Grandfather's House, who sang some incredibly soulful backing vocals throughout the album.
