Recorded live during the 'Two Reds Are Better Than One' concert held in McHenry, Illinois on June 14, 2006, this new CD features 10 of your favorite songs from the performance that evening including: I've Had My Fun, Blue and Lonesome, Bring It On Home, Born Under a Bad Sign, Don't Explain and more! Inspired by the recordings of Big Walter Horton with Joe Hill Louis, Dr. Ross and Elmon Mickle, harmonica player Geneva Red and guitarist Jackie "5 & Dime" Wolworth of Geneva Red & The Roadsters fame, formed their duo The Original Delta Fireballs to continue this blues tradition. The Original Delta Fireballs have been exploring the musical possibilities of their partnership by playing classic traditional songs. Red plays harmonica and sings while 5 & Dime plays drums with his feet and guitar or banjo at the same time, sounding like more than just two people, and bringing a new voice to this time honored ensemble style. This is what a classic performance by The Original Delta Fireballs is all about. Recorded with just two room microphones, the way it was done in the early days of recording, this CD captures these two musicians in performance at a great sounding small auditorium. The audience had no idea that the concert was being recorded so they responded naturally, expressing their excitement by joyfully clapping along in time with the band and shouting approval at every opportunity. As you listen to these tracks you can feel the energy as though you are there and at times the audience cheers as Geneva Red does something unexpected, like during the song "Bring It On Home" where Red puts the harmonica in her mouth like a cigar and performs her solo with "no hands" while she's clapping along in the tradition of Rice Miller (Sonny Boy Williamson # 2). Then during "Born Under a Bad Sign" Red goes out in the audience and the crowd roars while she plays for them close up and personal, sometimes dancing as she feels every note of her solo or even crawling across a table and standing on a chair. "I brought my long cord" she shouts as she surprises an audience member towards the back of the room. This CD really captures the excitement of a performance by this twosome, and puts the listener right in the middle of the fun. Turn it up, sit back, close your eyes and you'll feel what it's like when The Original Delta Fireballs "Come On With It!" Juke blues par excellence.- Blues Revue Magazine ...this duo set featuring vocalist-harpist Geneva Red and one-man band Jackie Wolworth is Raw in every aspect; from Wolworth's Joe Hill Louis - style drumming to his moiling, writhing slide-guitar work on Blue And Lonesome and his refreshingly primitive groove on Born Under A Bad Sign. Red shows a delectable toughness as well, particularly with the Little Walter licks she (Red) spreads throughout the extended jams that spontaneously erupt during the set. - Living Blues Magazine One thing is certain; her (Geneva Red) harmonica style is everything the reviews have said about her. That she has and will continue to astonish her audience and listeners with her fresh approach and blues educated presence. Jackie '5 & Dime' Wolworth plays a style they refer to as 'Juke Joint Music'...in the same traditional manner as the one-man bands of Beale street Memphis and Chicago's Maxwell street. - Big City Rhythm & Blues Magazine I mean she's somethin' that gal, she can blow up a storm. This young lady is one of a kind, believe me. ~'Sunshine' Sonny Payne
